I'm happy to announce that Journal of Computational Geometry, a new high-quality, open-access journal for research in all aspects of computational geometry, is now accepting submissions.
A few phrases in this announcement deserve clarification:
-
Open access means "no cost to readers or to authors" (like Theory of Computing and Chicago Journal of Theoretical Computer Science and Journal of Graph Algorithms and Applications), not "free to readers if the authors pay us $3000" (as Elsevier and Springer like to define it), or "free to readers who download from the author's web page, but not from us" (as ACM explicitly defines it). For people who like to split hairs, JoCG's policy is libre open access, not just gratis—authors retain copyright and non-exclusive redistribution rights to their papers. The nominal costs of archiving and distribution will be covered by Carleton University Computational Geometry Lab and the libraries and foundations supporting LOCKSS.
-
Computational geometry means anything at the intersection of algorithms and geometry, not merely the traditional scopes of DCG, CGTA, IJCGA, SOCG, CCCG, JCCDG, and various European, Barbadian, north-east USian, Dimaxian, Dagsthulich, Koreanish, and other workshops.
- Submissions means your papers!
