Best ArXiv paper EVAR: Marvel Universe looks almost like a real social network

Finally, we have computed the center of the giant component, the character that minimizes the sum of the distances from it to all other nodes in the component. It turns out to be Captain America, who is, on average, at distance 1.70 to every other character.

Comits is all growed up!

The latest New York Times Magazine has a very nice article (alas, with too few pictures) about the recent success and maturity of graphic novels, or as Alan Moore calls them, big expensive comic books. The online Magazine points to an excellent slide show, with audio commentary by Art Spiegelman ("Maus"), Chris Ware ("Jimmy Corrigan"), Seth ("Palookaville"), Joe Sacco ("Palestine"), and Chester Brown ("Yummy Fur").
